4 Ways to Make Laundry with Kids Easier

Make Laundry with Kids Easier

Trying to juggle chores and childcare can definitely be stressful, but laundry day can actually be an exciting experience for the whole family. Here are some pro-tips for how to help your kids have fun and get involved with the laundry process.

#1: PERSONAL KID HAMPERS

Every kid loves getting to make something their own. Make sure each of your kids has their own hamper, and let them pick the color. Write their name on it and add on some fun stickers. You can even turn it into a family arts and crafts project and decorate the hampers together.

#2: FOLD CLOTHES AND USE THE MACHINES TOGETHER

This is a great educational opportunity for your kids. Walk them through every step of the process, from starting the machines to folding your clean clothes. For younger kids, you might want to start with folding or putting the quarters into the slot, and older kids can begin to learn about how to program the machines and which cycles to use

#3: HAVE THE KIDS HELP PRE-SORT

Pre-sorting can quickly turn into a fun game. Show your kids how to separate laundry into different loads. Then, once they get the hang of it, turn it into a competition. Use a stopwatch and try to set a personal record, or compete for who can sort the fastest.

#4: PUT THEM IN CHARGE OF THE QUARTERS

Kids love to be in charge of things, so getting to hold onto the bag of quarters will feel like such a treat. (Or, if you use a swipe card, they’ll get to feel like they’re using a real credit card.) Plus, you can also use this as an opportunity to help them practice good manners: every time you need a quarter, ask them politely using “please” and “thank you” and have them practice saying “you’re welcome” back to you.
